Clothes Repair & Mending
Clothing Repairs & Mending
Mending: noun Repairing by stitching or darning
Darning: noun the skill of mending a hole in fabrics by interweaving threads or yarn
Repair: noun , restore what is torn or broken; renew
Let Madam Sews fix and tailor those items you LOVE; it can mend your broken heart!
Rips, holes, snags, frays, pulled threads, stains – big or small- can be repaired, preserving your beloved piece and sometimes save you money on replacements.
Most commonly, Madam to Sews mends ripped seams, torn pockets, Much-Loved-and-Washed Stuffed Animals, towel and sheet hems. We creatively, artfully fortify stressed areas with Sashiko mending. Fill in manufacturer’s cuts in jeans when they reveal too much! Sometimes mending means concealing a stain with just the right fabric, patch or applique. Use a perfect match or a statement embellishment
For example: a family of Softies stuffed, stitched, replaced “parts”!

It’s always your choice for your Treasure. We welcome your creative ideas for the mend, and we’ll make recommendations for a solution, too.
Madam to Sews sees Woolens here in the northeast – sweaters, blankets and knitted garments – susceptible to moth holes or “catching’ on a knob or the dyer – for darning… Invisibly or creatively. It’s your preference.
Some zippers can be repaired (though most need replacements).
Garment outerwear that caught on thorns, sleeping bags, things filled with down…whatever the damage, call or stop in to see if it can be saved!
Frayed or stretched-out cuffs and knit-waistbands can be repaired; worn-out elastic at waist and cuffs can be replaced. Belt loops, buttonholes, hems that have mysteriously “fallen”. Clips, clasps, belts, worn out collars and cuffs… We have experience in fixing them all.
Repairing feels better than replacing, and it’s much better for the planet.
